Sleep talk with Anna Mackenzie

What projects are you working on at the moment?
I’ve just started a personal photo project that I’ve been sitting on for a little while now, I'm pretty excited about it. I’ve just moved to the city so I haven’t had access to a work space for a little while. It feels good to settle and start something new.

What time do you go to bed? And get up?
I get up at around 8 and bedtime is usually a bit before 12. But i can sleep! I love not setting my alarm and waking up naturally.

Do you think you get enough sleep? And, is sleep important to you?
In the middle of Summer not so much, I'm so glad the weather has cooled down. Sleep is so important, too little and i'm not a person, ha ha.

Do you remember last night’s dream?
Not last nights but i do recall a couple from this week. If i think about something or someone that day or just before bed they usually make a cameo.

Do you use an alarm? If so, does it ever change?
I do, right now it's a minion making an fire alarm sound, it's equal parts funny and annoying..

In three words, how would you describe you bedroom?
Minimal, Practical, Unfinished.

Do you live on your own?
I live with two other people, one guy and one girl. They are lovely.

Do you have anything to help you get to sleep?
The eye mask always works a treat. I sometimes feel a little charged at night so I've been told about an app by Gemma Leslie (yours truly) called Headspace, it helps you unwind and relax but in a no frills kinda way.

What is the first thing you do in the morning?
First it's to the bathroom then coffee then the world wide web.

What is for breakfast?
Bircher Muesli, it's easy and tasty – great for the Summer months.

When do you think you are most productive?
It's either early in the morning or late and night, later in the afternoon you can forget it, the 3pm wall is real.

Is there anything exciting coming up for you?I just starting freelancing for NeueHouseBut other than that settling in and enjoying September in New York.

Best sleep you’ve ever had?
On a bed that went by the name of 'cloud bed', and so very true to it's name.
